Documentation & Hardware Design
This is the PROSSATeam last week in NASA/Ames! We’re working hard in our presentations and posters! Tomorrow is our presentation with Yvonne Pendleton the Director of the Lunar Science Institute in which we get to present our Greenhouse with the last updates! Also the PROSSATeam will be presenting in the New Space Conference! Let’s see how that goes.
Today we worked with a little of everything. First we had the biology tour at the Astro-biology where we had a few suggestions of many biologists on our project. They showed us their different laboratory’s and they explained to us the projects they are working on also the experiment that were going on at that moment. After the tour at the Astro-Biology center we headed back to our dorms (offices) and stared brainstorming on the ideas and on the suggestions that the biologists gave us and we talked about what we thought about those suggestions. Later we worked on the hardware design and with the software in which we kept on working with the webpage design and the app for the greenhouse. Later we reviewed the progress already done on the documentation and stared the basic editing phase. We are exited that we have done so much already on the documentation. Few days left and we are still demonstrating that we can do it! GO PROSSATeam! Yeah!
Yes, this week has been all about Documentation. We’ve been doing the Documentation of the Greenhouse, which it’s still on process. It has been a pretty tedious process I have to admit, but it’s necessary. We hope to have this done by this week! Us,the PROSSATeam will keep pressing on documenting and upgrading the Greenhouse! And now that we have only two weeks left here in NASA/Ames we cannot stop the hardwork! Let’s see how that goes!
Mixing up ideas! Concerns! Everything seems very unclear but we are progressing on our new design idea! Yay! we already started with our sketches! With patience and hard work anything is possible! Like our mentor says “Press on!”
PROSSATeam Back In Action!
As we realize that we only have two more weeks at NASA Ames research center we start getting ideas on what we want to next. Few hours discussing and creating possible ideas. As we think and talk there’s still a few more things to take care of tomorrow to finally figure out our final decisions.
After our “mini-vacation” this weekend we have returned to our research work! We’ve been looking more of ArduSat, KickSat, Radiation and keep tracking our Greenhouse. Today we a talk with Brian, of the RAX CubeSat Project and we had our Tuesday meeting with Sean Casey and Manu (he works with the Ardulab) and met two students from Colombia interested in the CubeSat project (and apparently they liked our GreenHouse too!). So now we (the PROSSATeam) have left two and a half weeks left here in the NASA/Ames Research Center and we have lots of work to do! We’ll keep doing hard work! Let’s see how that goes!
Fast growing plant
Harvesting: 35-40 days
Grows best in cool weather
Days to germination: 7-10 days
Plant Height: 10 inch
Its is popular in salad and sandwiches selection
A little bit of fun
After a trip to the Big Basin State Park and watch the majestic redwoods; what’s better to monitor than a young incredible redwood for our greenhouse.
The astronaut Yvonne Cagle said: “whatever you do, if you’re not having fun, then it’s not working.” So further than working and programming our greenhouse all week, we had a lot of fun visiting local touristic places and having a short vacation. The Cable cars, the exploratorium and China town in San Francisco were some of the places we visited. We cannot leave behind the amazing Big Basin Redwood national park in which we got a little more in touch with nature. The PROSSATeam is definitely having fun!
